Sydney South West Area Health Service - Traxside Youth Health Service


Youth Health Service Macarthur, otherwise known as Traxside, is a multidisciplinary primary health care service for marginalised and at risk young people aged 12 to 24 years who are living, working and/or attending schools within the Macarthur area. The primary focus however, is young people aged 12 to 21 years who are:

• High need CALD young people, specifically newly arrived and refugees
• Homeless young people
• Aboriginal young people
• Young carers
• Young parents
• Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender young people
• Young people experiencing economic disadvantage and/or from areas/places of significant socio-economic disadvantage
• Young people from rural areas
• Young people in out-of-home care and/or in the care of other government departments, eg – Juvenile Justice

Opening hours: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9.00am –5.30pm, Thursday and Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm

Traxside is a free and confidential service for marginalised and at risk young people in the Macarthur area. Services provided include: 
• Counselling
• Information and resources on health issues
• Free internet access
• Needle syringe program
• Free safe sex supplies
• Bio-psychosocial client assessment.
• Medical services: general and developmental health checks.
• Assistance for young clients 21-24 years in their transition to adult services.
• Health promotion programs.
• Therapeutic and support groups.
• Referral services and support to access mainstream health services.
• Community development.
• Nursing services: sexual and reproductive health checks, immunisation, vision and hearing checks.
• CQ: CQ is an educational and support group for same sex attracted young people
• Worker on Duty – During our opening hours we have a worker on duty that is here to talk to anyone who comes in or phones. They can provide support, information and referral. Please call for our WOD hours.

No Medicare card is required.

Youth Health Services aim to improve the health status and reduce the health disadvantage of priority young people through fairer access and equitable service delivery. Priority health issues that will guide service delivery and program development include:
